ABOUT OROKLINI
There are two parts to Oroklini, the area known as the tourist area and the village itself. Our apartment is situated in Oroklini Village which offers a range of shops including several small supermarkets, two large bakeries, chemist, bank, DVD rental, barbers and nail and beauty salons. For those of you wanting to venture down to the tourist area and beach this is a 30 minute walk or five minute drive. Once down there you will find a strip of costal road known as Dhekelia Road which runs between Oroklini and Pyla. This strip is lined with bars, restaurants and gift shops.
EATING OUT When it comes to eating out Oroklini really does have something for everyone. Oroklini Village has a selection of fine Tavernas within a 10 minute walk of the apartment all of which serve traditional Greek meze at very reasonable prices. There are three bars within easy walking distance where you are assured of a warm welcome. In addition there are a few take-aways in the village offering traditional Greek kebabs together with a pizza parlour. For those of you who fancy something a bit different to the traditional Greek fayre the tourist strip on Dhekelia Road is the place for you. A huge variety of tastes are catered for including, Italian (Casa Mia), Indian (Ganga and Masalas), Mexican (Aztecas), Chinese (Lilly Wongs), Malaysian (Penang Penang), French and Spanish Tapas. In addition to this wide selection of international cuisine there are also several traditional Greek Tavernas (Aphrodite Roof Garden Restaurant and Kantara Restaurant being excellent examples). For those of you who long for a taste home Beanies is an English café opposite the village school which offers a full English breakfast. The Black Orchid down at the tourist strip also serves and excellent breakfast and traditional roast dinner on Sundays.
OUT AND ABOUT Oroklini is an ideal base from which to explore Cyprus. Larnaca itself is only some ten minutes away by car and has an excellent beach (blue flag award), promenade and marina area. If you are going to hire a car Ayia Napa is only a twenty minutes drive whilst Nicosia will take about forty minutes. All of the road signs have the English translation underneath so finding you way around in Cyprus is very easy. Of course it is made easier by the fact that they drive on the left in Cyprus too. For those of you that don’t want to drive there is an excellent bus service from Oroklini Tourist area running between Larnaca and Ayia Napa. There is also a bus service from Oroklini Village itself down to the tourist area and in to Larnaca (No.8 or No. 30). The best stop for our apartment would be the village school which is a five minute walk away. The local taxi service is excellent with several local firms. It will cost you between £5 and £7 CYP to get from the apartment down to the tourist strip and between £6 and £8 CYP to go into Larnaca Town Centre. Transfers to the airport from the apartment usually cost between £10 and £15 CYP.

From here you can look out over Nicosia and view the Green Line.
SHOPPING For the shopaholics amongst you Larnaca has an excellent selection of shops. You will find several brand names here such as Debenhams, Oasis, Clarks, Miss Selfridge, French Connection, Mango and of course Marks and Spencer. The shops are spaced out with brand names mixed in with Cypriot shops and gift shops. Remember however that on Wednesday and Saturday the shops have half day closing and on Sunday most shops are closed. In addition most shops and businesses such as banks close between 1pm and 3pm each day. The general exception to these are the large cash and carry stores which sell a mixture of home wares and food and drink handy for those of you that want to stock up for your stay.
